Almost...

The outside temp just about hit 60 today...hibernation is quickly coming to an end.  All of a sudden it's a scramble to get the winter projects ready for the spring rides.  Will miss times like this 'til next winter, when the crew gathers in a chilly garage, stories of past rides are once again told, and the occasional knuckle is bloodied.

Billy

Vertex

Terry scored  a really nice old Vertex mag.  It's got so many cool features I'm not sure where to begin?  Belt driven, clears the regulator boss, single fire, simple timing adjustments, hipster like coolness.  I'm drooling.

Arizona Mike...

...before he became Arizona Mike.  I first met Mike in 2003 when he worked at my local HD boutique. I had acquired a flat tire on the way home from work, I was able to make it home and pull the wheel off the bike but by the time I drove up to the dealership for a re-tube they were turning the lights off.  I was leaving in the early AM for a road trip so it was a must fix...Mike was out the door when I showed up but was kind enough to turn the lights back on and take care of me.  A total stand up guy and a real friend.  I sure do miss him.  He's down in AZ staying warm.  Later on, through other channels, we became close friends.  I'm not sure what we are staring at here but I do remember those white russian mornings with Mike, Greg and crew.  Always time well spent.

TT Update

Dialing in the lines on the fairing and creating the brackets that attache it to the bike...starting to see it a little more clearly.

Skinny bikes look the business, but stock tin can still look just as bitchin'.  Jose takes some beautiful pics, check out his sight over on the tumblr - Speed Milk.

Fairing Fight

Spent last night trying to heard a flock of cats.  This fairing is SO out of whack.  I can understand and appreciate that Airtech used original parts to make their molds but holy crap this thing is not even close to being symmetrical!  The right side is about 1.5" taller than the left (and the shape is COMPLETELY differen't).  The left side is at least an inch shorter then the right.  The plan view at the nose is not even close either.  I'm not sure if all their products are like this but be prepared if you order one of these.  Of course most of this can be corrected with brackets mounted in key areas and some trimming/adding but for as much as the glass costs it should come out of the box a helluva lot closer.

Comet Scrub

I use Blue Job to get the color out of my pipes when I don't want it...but Comet is a lot cheaper.

Sporty TT - Update

Bashing it in and moving quickly.  The guy at Airtech fairing's said the KRTT glass I ordered was going to be a bitch to fit around a modern sporty due to the high steering head - he knew what he was talking about.

Beyond Righteous

Three of my favorite things in this world, a big twin flathead, land speed racing and Bonneville! Apologies for the lack of info on this one...anyone out there?

Oil, Gas & Go!

I walk over and stare at this thing at least once a day.  I've had this bike for years now and I still get all giddy looking at it like I've got some junior high crush.  At the moment it's all done. Fresh motor, fresh tank innards, wiring and some other little tweaks.  All it needs now is oil and gas.  The weather can't break soon enough...

The Purpose #57

Eeny Meeny Miney Moe...

This is a little glimpse of the Sporty TT Road Racer I've been building over at Ry's place. It was a lame little 1999 883 Hugger.  Greg punched out the motor to 1200. Got all the glass last week - KRTT fairing, Ducati tail section with a Suzuki tank. We will start mounting it up this week. I picked up a chain drive system from my buddy Bryan (thx again!). Ry and I will create the exhaust system which unlike the images above will be north/south duels and mounted much higher. I think it's looking good and I'm totally stoked.  I did these quick renderings to decide on wheel color.  Think I know where I'm going but what do you think?
