Main Squeeze
There's a new lady in my life. She's loves to just sit there (well ok, she can't really sit) and watch me turn the wrenches. As Sleepy would say "God Bless Her"! I have to admit I felt a little creepy walking her up to the check out at the junk store...
Toy Show
I can't believe I've never been to one of these things before. Tipsy goes all the time and today he took me along. There was almost too much to take in all at once and it was easy to get lost in all the cool old stuff. I guess that's the point of collecting all this stuff -it transports you away to another time.
Ever wonder where that missing wheel from you Tonka Mighty Dumper went? It's right here with everone elses's. Happy hunting.
An old friend of ours Chuck had a huge collection of promo cars at the show. Chuck was one the most talanted clay modelers I had the honor of working with in the studios of FMC.
Good thing I never got rid of my old Marx six shooters, because I saw them at the show with a $500 price tag. Hey man, who ever said being a dimestore cowboy was gonna be cheap?
Eye candy!!!
This killer little trike could be yours for 125 beans the spare slicks thrown in to boot.
You gotta love "Shifty". I think I rode with him in Sturgis!
For those of you who still may have some questions...
I almost put 80 bones down for that pot iron prop over there on the right. I thought it could look pretty cool on the ULH.

Multi-Mill Mania
TV Tom's take on more is better is pretty brutal from a design point of view, but it got the job done.

Art Farley is Alright!
Art Farley and his road course Injun. Art now runs a WLDR that's just a s sweet as this Scout. I got the chance to spend a few hours with him and his wife Lynn this afternoon at the big bike swap in Lansing. He told me for bike week this year he has been asked to race a bike sponsored by the Florida chapter of the Boozefighters at the Daytona International Speedway - how cool is that? I'm so stoked (cuz I'll be there)!
Art is also helping me get my '50 Panhead ready for Bonneville. He ran there a couple years back and has been giving me wisdom downloads for the last couple weeks. More on this project coming soon.

Swap Meet GOLD!
I was searching all year for a genuine HD speedo for my '39 ULH but was COMPLETELY freaked out at the $500 to $1200 asking prices. I searched all over Daytona, Wauseon and Davenport until I (at the last minute) decided to take a look at some vintage bike photos on the last vendor booth I had not stopped by at the Davenport show. That's when I found the gauge above sitting in broad daylight on the table next to a stack of photos. It had a $40 price tag on it.

The Horsepower Hollow Revisited
The morning of the rally and all the cars entered are parked here as we all eat breakfast in the garage over there on the left.
This a shot showing the start of the event. All the cars were flagged off in one minute intervals. The average finish time for the 100 miles was in the neighborhood of 3.5 hours. The fastest drivers could do the course in a little over 2 hours. But that was flat out and many drivers went home with extra harsh speeding tickets due to the high speeds. That never worried me, I just prayed no one would run over one of my neighbors cows.
Back in a previous life I used to host a 100 mile road rally through the twisty bits west of Ann Arbor Michigan. It snowballed from a 13 car turnout the first year into a 45 car event the third year. There are a lot of gearheads in Southeastern Michigan and most of them turned out at the Hollow for the annual early autumn rally. By the way my Mom did most of the cooking and her white bean chicken chilli became legendary. After all day in a car or on a bike, her cooking was much obliged and kept us all warm by the bonfire as the October sun dipped into the far off hills.
