Recon

Took a trip down to Ohio a couple nights back to check out a survivor '82 Sturgis for Michael Schmidt . He found a really nice rare, original, and running sled at an incredible price!  All the karma was good.  The owner of the bike even had some old HD oil cans lying around his garage he was willing to part with for a few bucks!  After telling Mike to "buy it immediately" I chased the sunset back home content that the mission was a success.  Check out Mike's beautiful work here and if you have not seen his chopper flick 6over grab copy while your there.

Sporty TT - Update

Actually stopped removing things from the bike and began putting things back on this week...won't be long now.  I love how Ry takes my crappy sketches and makes beautiful parts out of them - he is 20 ninja's.

Sporty TT - Update

I finally finished up all the tapes on the fairing last week so Ry could put the final coat of black over everything.  Were both stoked how it's turning out.  Since these pics Ry has added a few coats of clear so now the wet sanding begins...

So Long Al...

Al Knapp passed away today at 90 years old.  AL raced Harley-Davidson motorcycles for over 50 years.  He was instrumental in the development of Harley racing bikes and in his senior years raced a WR on the AHRMA circuit.  Al was a man a few words and was known to go very fast. We will miss you dearly Al.  Thanks to WTTM for the picture and words.

Last Night

Fresh

Turned the last wrenches on the ULH re-fit this morning.  Added gas and oil and the damn thing started on the first kick!  Terry and I followed that up with a 30 mile break-in ride up the see Greg and Gino at MCHD.  So happy this bike is back in the line-up...it runs SO good.  A big thanks to Lurch for the motor and Terry for the flywheels (and help with the trans plate) - you guys are my hero's.

Pray for Speed

Found this Carl's Speed Shop velocity stack at born free last year.  It's almost too pretty to race...even if it proves to be no faster than last year it stays on because it's true love.

Josie's Reins

Finally found the perfect set of bars for Josie.  They appear to be from about the right era with the black-out hardware - fitting for an early-mid '46 big twin.  Stoked.

Happy Birthday Gino!!!

We are celebrating Gino becoming old as dirt tonight at Toast in Birmingham. If you're around stop by...I think he will even be scratching on his guitar a little bit.

Your Last Chance...

....to save $200 bucks on your Speed Week pre-entry.  Tonight at midnight a trip down this line will cost you a heavy $650.  That is a LOT of cash, but I guarantee your kids will tell their kids that great grampa put it on the line at Bonneville.  Register HERE.

MotoNisto no.6 FOR SALE

Marcel has no.6 - his Yamaha XS 650 up on the auction block over on the ebay.  I've ridden hundreds of miles next to this bike and can say with confidence that it's as reliable as a hammer and goes like stink - all day long.  Marcel builds VERY solid motorcycles. Take a look HERE!

Damage Control

Someone thought it was a great idea to through paint stripper on Ry's freshly done softail-springer the other night!  When I first saw the damage I almost cried - looked terminal to me because it had eaten away a 6"X 8" area of the paint in the scaled panel.  Ry just shrugged and  fixed it last night. Unbelievable vandalism, unbelievable recovery.  Unbelievable amount of bad karma coming to some asshole out there very soon.

Southern Roll

If you're a biker and live within a few hours of Southeastern Ohio you should go there right now. Amish country was made for motorcycles.  I would have taken some pics of the mind blowing roads themselves but they were too damn twisty to use my camera...
