Today

Did a couple hundred miles today for the first long-ish ride of the season.  Bumped into Terry at the Hotel Liquor before rolling all the way up to Bay City for some junk hunting.  Dug up some good stuff but the ride was the real prize. Temps finally tolerable thank god - in the low 70's.  Terry finally convinced me to do the Instagram thing - "ZENofNEATO".  Cheers!

Big D Cycle's LSR

Just found this file filled with pics of a land speed racer restoration happening at Big D Cycle in Dallas Texas.   I was down there on business a couple years back with FMC and stopped by.  The guys there were super cool to us and let come back into the shop to check it out.  Wish I could remember more details...

Sporty TT - Update

Before

After

Shorter tail bubble and shorter fairing skirts.  The shorter tail is a definite win especially in the side-view but the shorter fairing skirts effected the proportions in a marginally bad way - but there was no way I could have ridden the bike the way it was, and I will be riding this bike, so it had to be.  Ry's killing it. Rear sets next...

Some outakes from the Greasy Kulture shoot we did of Terry's spot-on shuv.  In the pic that Sleepy shot above, Dong is not  giving me the bear hug because we've grown tight over the years, or because it was frigid that day, or because he never passes up a chance to spoon  - it's because I'm using his five thousand dollar super duper fancy pants camera and I'm losing the feeling in my extremities...

Test Fitting

Ry and I had to make some changes in order to fit my lanky ass comfortably on - or rather in - this motorcycle.  You can really get a feel for how low and tight the proportions are from the pic above (I'm about 6'1"). Changes have included a slight trim to the rear edges of the fairing and new brackets that push it away from the bike in top view so my legs can tuck into it easily (neither mod has been done in the pic). But the biggest mod was moving the seat position back about 2" without actually moving the tail section in side view so the proportions stay the same - the seat area just grew.  This required some major cut-up of the glass but in the end had to be done so the bike is ride-able.  Even in this view the bubble part of the tail looks a little too long and fights with the tank visually.  This new mod will mitigate that and make the bike much more comfortable.

Sporty TT - Update

Fairing, tank and tail nailed down.  Next up rear-sets and exhaust....paint soon after.  Ry makes it as fast as we can think it up.  Can't wait to turn the screw on this one...
