Christmas, circa 1977 or 78', all I wanted (badly) was a solid oak Hobie bowl rider.... a skateboard that pemanantly curved like a giant slice of a salad bowl... And a set of Yandall bowl roll wheels. Add that magical combination to a set of original Gull Wing trucks, and you have the worlds most unstable skateboard EVER !!!! (be carefull what you wish for, kids!) Still..... oddly... I miss it.....

GreasyDave, great memories man, I still remember the smell of my first set of O.J's when they arrived in August '76 from Val Surf to go on my HalfTracks . . . wow !! I reckon the shot is of Greg Weaver in about late '75, he rode for Hobie and was a beautiful stylist, smooth, flowing and surf influenced skater from S.D. If I recall correctly the Hobie sticks were made by Maharajah and they were fucking gorgeous!! Then the Dogtown lads hit the scene and everything changed forever. Happy New Year Greasy and to the Zen boys as well. Bring it on 2012 !!
